Fall 2012: serious curves ahead

The Fashion God’s are starting to pay attention to what women want.  Hallelujah!  After seasons of androgynous looks (made for waif-like models), we’ve seen enough.

This season we welcome figure flattering pieces, meant for a woman with curves (who’s not afraid to show them off).  From belted swing coats to fitted pencil skirts, the emphasis is primarily on the waist – resulting in sexy, ladylike silhouettes all around.

Fall Shopping List:

Peplum style blazer – an updated version of the Fall staple.  Choose a blazer with clean, simple lines and an impeccable fit.  Looks great paired with a basic v-neck and denim or worn with a fitted pencil skirt.

Ankle length trouser – swap out your everyday denim for tailored trousers.  Choose a pair with flat front pockets to avoid any puckering.  Cropped trousers look great paired with flats or with heels – making them very versatile.

Pencil skirt – instead of the much coveted maxi skirt, opt for a fitted pencil skirt to really enhance those curves this Fall.  Pair an oxblood or navy pencil skirt with a black blouse and ankle strap heels for a classic, yet sexy look.

Printed blouse – prints and patterns were seen all over the Fall ’12 runways.  For a minimal take on the trend, look for a lightweight printed blouse in neutral tones.  Looks great paired with denim for a casual look, or tucked into a pair of trousers for an office-friendly look.

Cowl neck – nothing says Fall more than a cozy sweater.  If you’re curvy, try a lightweight cowl neck sweater instead of a basic crewneck sweater.  The cowl neckline will lay nicely over your chest without adding bulk.  Cowl neck sweaters can also be dressed up or down, making them extremely versatile.

Wrap dress – always a classic and looks great on every body type.  This season opt for a dress in a thick stretch fabric (like polyester) instead of a jersey fabric – this way the material will hug your curves (not cling to them).

While shopping for some of Fall’s hottest trends and looking for pieces that flatter your figure – shop at stores that cater to women of your size.  SimplyBe is a great site for women with curves – with loads of trendy Fall pieces and some of those closet classics, you’ll be sure to find pieces tailored to your figure.
