OPI_Alice_in_Wonderland_Collection

OPI has created four limited-edition nail lacquer shades inspired by Alice in Wonderland, one of the most anticipated movies of 2010. The colors includes: Off with Her Red! (A glowering, empowering hot red), Absolutely Alice (An absolutely amazing blue glitter), Mad as a Hatter (A madly marvelous black-multi glitter) and Thanks So Muchness! (For this “much-have” red shimmer).

The Alice in Wonderland-inspired Nail Lacquers by OPI are available now at Professional Salons for $8.50.

OPI is thrilled about tying in with Alice in Wonderland,” said Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “This is a movie everyone will be talking about – and our magical colors were inspired by its brilliant on-screen imagery.

WSJ on L.L. Bean & Land’s End

lands_end_line

Ray A. Smith at the Wall Street Journal recently ran a piece on how L.L. Bean and Lands’ End are trending towards a hipper customer. The story had the twitterverse talking all New Years’. ” L.L. Bean and Lands’ End don’t exactly bring to mind the word “cool.” Both catalog retailers are trying to amp up their style with new lines for younger customers. This means the virtual disappearance of the baggy pleated khakis that were prevalent in both lines. L.L. Bean, a 97-year-old icon of New England style, is also introducing dressier clothes, suits for men, heels for women, and updating classic items like canvas tote bags and hunting boots with new colors and materials.”

The up and coming Swedish line, House of Dagmar have some eye catching designs that everyone should take note of. The design house is founded and run by three sisters with perfectly complementary skills – “Dagmar was founded by the Swedish sisters Kristina Tjader, Karin Soderlind and Sofia Malm. Kristina Tjader is designer, educated at ESMOD Ecole Superieur de la Mode in Paris. Previously, she has worked for Christian Lacroix, H&M and other Swedish brands. Karin Soderlind supervised purchasing and product development for H&M during eight years and has been operating as a brand manager and PR-consultant for many years. Sofia Malm, a textile economist, is Dagmar’s head of sales with many years of experience in retailing.”

“The principal source of inspiration – and muse – is the sisters’ late grandmother by the name Dagmar. She was herself a tailor and inspired the sisters to develop their interest for fabrics and design at young age.”

Zero + Maria Cornejo Menswear Collection

Zero_Maria_Cornejo

Maria Cornejo’s new collection is an extension of her distinctive approach to using women’s design elements as key pieces for men. Classic Zero + Maria Cornejo shapes are the foundation of the collection, including a rain jacket that is concave shaped, and a textured cotton double-layered shirt. But really? What is up with the sandal/clog/slingback shoe? Would any straight man ever be caught in something like this? I need to know who makes them, and if they’re comfortable, because these random shoes are pretty enough for me any day. And as always, no collection is complete without a pair of black tailored slim trousers, and Cornejo’s look fantastic.

The new collection will be available in February 2010.

The Armored Jeans

Acne Jean Armored Jean

Acne Jeans Spring/Summer 2010 lookbook includes an interesting addition: The Armored Jean.

The jeans have polished plates on the thighs, knees and shins while jackets have plates on the shoulders and elbows. The outstanding question…how do you wash them?
