I thought I would step away from fashion for a second and try my hand at something new: discussing coffee table books. There’s nothing better than going to someones house and picking up one of those hefty books and entertaining myself for hours. Not only do coffee table books show visitors what subjects tickle your fancy, they’re a great means of decorative expression in the home.
Here are a few of my favorites, that range from fashion to national geographic photography.
Dolce & Gabbana: Fashion Album
There are few books in which every page is a work of art in itself. This fashion album is such a book. Low content, but great photographs. You’ll experience the artistry of each photographer and his subject.
The Travel Book
The stunning images in this book provide a reminder of what a diverse place the world is. The book covers each of the 230 countries existing today in visually enticing entries. This is how armchair traveling is done!
Water Light Time
This work of art provides a breathtaking glimpse into an underwater world that few of us ever have the opportunity or the privilege to visit. This book really makes your fantasies lift off.
Old-fashioned eroticism meets the most beautiful and famous women in the world. And it’s all for a great cause, the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
The Polaroid Book
This book is a must for any hardcore Polaroid fan. Lots of pictures that are beautifully printed. Nevertheless, the book’s greatest virtue is to prove that beautiful and creative work can be achieved with the simplest tools and the sheer power of imagination.
