The Wilkinson Residence
Growing up in rural Minnesota, I spent many summer days climbing trees with my older sister in our nine acre lot on the lake. The best climbing trees were Willow Trees. Once I was up in a tree I would envision “rooms” like the rooms you’d find in a house. I was a better tree climber than my sister, so I was opinionated about what room went where in the tree. I was also a little lighter than her, so my “bedroom” was always at the very top of the tree…the part she couldn’t climb to (it was a good way to keep her out).
Needless to say, I’ve always been fascinated with trees, and especially with the idea of living in a tree. My pipe dream is to have a tree-house vacation home up in the woods. The Wilkinson Residence in Oregon is very inspirational. It was designed by Robert Harvey Oshatz. For more images click here
