Vanishing Elephant has released images of their Spring and Fall 2010 Collections. The collection for Spring will be entitled Northern Hemisphere while the Fall collection will reflect the Southern Hemisphere. Here are some images from their upcoming range which will include knits, plaid suits, vests, leather, and footwear. Its very hard to tell which pieces belong to each season since the color palette appears to be very ‘fall’. Regardless, there are some handsome, clean and simple pieces being released this year.

Twenty8Twelve Fall 2010

Twenty8Twelve Fall 2010

For those of you who don’t know, Sienna Miller and her fashion designer sister, Savannah are behind label Twenty8Twelve. I have some issues with this label, first, you don’t name any kind of company after four numbers and then mix up the spelling with letters and numbers. Secondly, the new Fall 2010 line looks like something I can see on any street corner in the Mission, worn by a lady who paid a fraction of the price for a similar outfit. I understand that Sienna says she doesn’t claim to be a designer and feels she’s been misinterpreted, but when you own a clothing line with someone who has had formal training in fashion design, like her sister…I’m sorry, like it or not, you are a designer.

Back to the Fall 2010 collection, it’s not high-end, and the clothes, while doubtless fun for a certain kind of British girl to wear, don’t display the kind of skill that have won critical acclaim. In this collection, there were some neat pieces, such as the trippy colored giant cardigan, lovely black tops and dresses with fringed shoulders, and a red minidress.

Brussels-based menswear label, Chauncey leans towards the modern, simplistic fashion trends by relying upon extreme creativity and precision by using high quality yarns and manufacturers. According to Chancey, the line is meant for the “elegant gentleman traveler” look with a slice of Belgian surrealism (though I would say that the model looks anything but an elegant traveler with his pale skin, obviously bleacher hair and neck tattoo…don’t get me wrong, he’s still beautiful). For Fall/Winter 2010 the collection ranges from simplistic knits, scarves, tops, and trousers. There’s a quiet look to the collection that I’m sure some of the more humble fashionable men will appreciate.

Sass & Bide’s Fall 2010 collection debuted at London Fashion Week, and was anything but stale. The collection was as confident and bold, drawing on some of their signature cuts, bustier necklines and sharp-shouldered blazers. The color palette was very fall, consisting mainly of blacks, grays and nudes. Several of the pieces featured an updated version of the tribal-chic trend we saw during Spring 2010 but nothing about this collection feels dated.

These guys look okay in the Dunhill Fall 2010 collection despite their clean yet angry look, oversized jackets and flood pants. What excites me most about this collection is the accessories. I love the brief cases, man purses, backpacks and flasks. It seems like flasks are all the rage right now, every retailer appears to be releasing their own rendition of the trendy flask.

Narciso Rodriguez can drape and fit like nobody’s business. For Fall he focused on asymmetry and mixed media, showing powdery silks, textural shearling, angora, sheeny neoprene, and flannel. There was a softness to the peekaboo looks, with draped silk softly revealing the sides of models’ bodies.

“I was in Palm Beach over the holidays, and everyone was wearing leather and studs,” Amy Smilovic the designer of Tibi explained backstage. “And if the look has made it there, you know it’s time to do something new.”

Tibi’s Fall 2010 collection focuses on the concept of balanced opposites. Similar to other Fall 2010 collection there was a lot of mixed fabrics and finishes including velvet, fur, sequins and silk. Drapey bow ties, skirts and pants are a huge theme for the collection. There were even a few of Tibi’s popular printed dresses layered into the collection.

Some writers, like Tania Braukamper of Fashionising.com believe that Alexander Wang 2010 Collection resembles outfits that might be found in our future workplace. I hope she is wrong about the midriff bearing tops, I think even girls with the flattest abs should refrain from showing them at work…its tacky. The look is heavy and bleak with very minimal use of color, which is perfect for Fall. The layering shown in this collection was at times intense, however id there is one huge underlining trend for Fall 2010 it is over-layering..so he fits the bill. Overall I thought the collection was well presented. There aren’t any stand out pieces that I’m interested to see on the streets though.
