Chauncey: Fall/Winter 2010 Lookbook

Brussels-based menswear label, Chauncey leans towards the modern, simplistic fashion trends by relying upon extreme creativity and precision by using high quality yarns and manufacturers. According to Chancey, the line is meant for the “elegant gentleman traveler” look with a slice of Belgian surrealism (though I would say that the model looks anything but an elegant traveler with his pale skin, obviously bleacher hair and neck tattoo…don’t get me wrong, he’s still beautiful). For Fall/Winter 2010 the collection ranges from simplistic knits, scarves, tops, and trousers. There’s a quiet look to the collection that I’m sure some of the more humble fashionable men will appreciate.
Sass & Bide Fall 2010

Sass & Bide’s Fall 2010 collection debuted at London Fashion Week, and was anything but stale. The collection was as confident and bold, drawing on some of their signature cuts, bustier necklines and sharp-shouldered blazers. The color palette was very fall, consisting mainly of blacks, grays and nudes. Several of the pieces featured an updated version of the tribal-chic trend we saw during Spring 2010 but nothing about this collection feels dated.

The Wilkinson Residence
Growing up in rural Minnesota, I spent many summer days climbing trees with my older sister in our nine acre lot on the lake. The best climbing trees were Willow Trees. Once I was up in a tree I would envision “rooms” like the rooms you’d find in a house. I was a better tree climber than my sister, so I was opinionated about what room went where in the tree. I was also a little lighter than her, so my “bedroom” was always at the very top of the tree…the part she couldn’t climb to (it was a good way to keep her out).
Needless to say, I’ve always been fascinated with trees, and especially with the idea of living in a tree. My pipe dream is to have a tree-house vacation home up in the woods. The Wilkinson Residence in Oregon is very inspirational. It was designed by Robert Harvey Oshatz. For more images click here
Bite Silverware by Mark Reigelman
This unique silverware called “Bite” was designed by Mark Reigelman to draw attention to the ongoing global eating problems. Starvation and obesity are dangerous diseases which must be addressed. As some people refuse to eat, driving themselves to exhaustion, or starve because they are unable to earn their bread, others are eating fat-calorie food. Mark A. Reigelman II sincerely hopes to draw attention to these two issues through his design project.
The silverware is original and eye catching and I hope his designs do get recognized.
Print Society
The Print Society claims they are the best place to search for art that you can actually buy, and that they are the easiest and most effective way for artists and galleries to sell their prints.
While browsing the site weeks ago, I was drawn to this amazing and cute photographer named Joakim Boren. Joakim Boren is a Stockholm born photographer who documents historically significant architectural projects using the stark visual language of his large format camera to record socio-economic and political issues of contemporary society in the United Kingdom. His work can be purchased at Eye Buy Art at a reasonable rate. Go check him, and other artists out at Print Society and Eye Buy Art.
The Ankle Sock trend
Ankle socks with bare legs are appearing everywhere. The trend doesn’t feel natural, but it can look adorable and very hip if pulled off correctly. The key with this look is to experiment with different shoes and types of socks to find what feels comfortable for you. J.Crew has been featuring this look a lot for spring and they have a a good selection of different materials like fishnet, nylon, and knit in lots of colors.
Check out this New York Times article for more comments on the trend.
Bleubird Vintage
James Kicinski has relaunched Bleubird Vintage! The collection features striped dresses, blazers and florals for women. For men, the collection features plaid shirts, tees and dockers.
I love the images they’ve put together for the site. The country side reminds me a of Minnesota.
