Elisabeth Lecourt Maps Couture

Elisabeth_Lecourt_Map_Shirt

Elisabeth Lecourt makes shirts and dresses made out of Maps, how cool! If anyone knows me, you’d understand how exciting this is for me; because you’d know I have an obsession with maps. In fact, I used to decorate my bedroom walls with maps…

Elisabeth_Lecourt_Map_dress

The map-wear line called “Les Robes Geographiques” consists of pieces made from World, New York City, Paris, London, San Francisco (yeay) and Chelsea maps. The finished clothes not to be worn but rather hung. To date she has pressed and ironed 60 pieces of faux garments, mostly pleated parochial dresses and button-down shirts made out of modern maps. Check out the others at her site.

Swedish House of Dagmar S/S 2010

House_of_Dagmar_ss2010

The up and coming Swedish line, House of Dagmar have some eye catching designs that everyone should take note of. The design house is founded and run by three sisters with perfectly complementary skills – “Dagmar was founded by the Swedish sisters Kristina Tjader, Karin Soderlind and Sofia Malm. Kristina Tjader is designer, educated at ESMOD Ecole Superieur de la Mode in Paris. Previously, she has worked for Christian Lacroix, H&M and other Swedish brands. Karin Soderlind supervised purchasing and product development for H&M during eight years and has been operating as a brand manager and PR-consultant for many years. Sofia Malm, a textile economist, is Dagmar’s head of sales with many years of experience in retailing.”

“The principal source of inspiration – and muse – is the sisters’ late grandmother by the name Dagmar. She was herself a tailor and inspired the sisters to develop their interest for fabrics and design at young age.”

The style can best be describe asa very swedish, clean, modern “arty chic”. You can find the barnd at Revolve Clothing. In 2007, House of Dagmar won a fashion show by Gen Art-NY during NY Fashion Week!

louis-vuitton-party-pharrell

This is Pharell, the voice behind the band N.E.R.D. (No One Ever Really Dies) and the Neptune’s producer (thin Snoop Dog’s ‘Drop it like it’s Hot’). He is beautiful and amazing!

He’s been getting into furniture design, making his second chair titled The Tank Chair.

Book Bust: McQueen’s Machines

mcQueens_machines_book_cover

McQueen’s Machines $26.95 is a look at Hollywood-legend Steve McQueen’s love of motorcycles and cars. McQueen made movies best remembered for their car chases, motorcycle dashes, and hair-raising races. Throughout the years, no one forgets the man at the wheel, Steve McQueen, aka the King of Cool. No other Hollywood star has been so closely linked with cars and bikes. This 176 page book features cars, motorcycles, and even airplanes that McQueen owned over the years. Written by Matt Stone; with foreward from Steve McQueen’s son, Chad McQueen.

If your dad happens to own 2 Harley Davidsons, 1 car, 2 trucks, 1 para-plane, 1 cigarette boat, 1 pontoon, 3 ATVs, and 3 snowmobiles, like my dad, then this book might be a perfect Holiday gift for him! And dad, now that I’ve written down all the toy’s you own (and maybe even missed a few), I understand why living in rural Minnesota works out so well for you!

Mice are going Woodgrain

alestrukov_aury_mouse

As of recent, textured plastic has taken over almost all of our work-based accouterments  No one ever really complained about the abundance of plastic products until recently  Over the last few months, and maybe even during an attempt to look green, the latest craze has been about woodgrain accessories. I first reported on this trend while on my iPhone case binge. But now, I’ve found one of the coolest woodgrains to date…the optical mouse carved entirely out of wood, right down to the USB plug. These woodgrain mice are a product from Russian gadget maker Alest Rukov. The product comes in a few different woodgrain options, that all look fantastic. Of course, you won’t be able to pick it up for less than a thousand dollars – but it’s a fair price for spending all day handling ebony.

TOM TOM: Shape Shape It Up Spring 2010

I have my eye on Tom Tom Jewelry’s Spring 2010 “Shape Shape It Up” collection. The geometric shapes, gems, and flashy metallic ornaments are named after some of my favorite songs to shake it to. I’m particularly a fan of the necklaces, shown above, but so we’re clear, the collection does include some bracelets and earrings as well, and with price tags hovering around $100, they’re great statement pieces that won’t cost you your accessories allowance for the month.
