Design your own Swim Shorts
In the past few years a wide array of products consumers can design themselves have hit the market. I just learned of yet another company, offering a different design-your-own-product line, custom designed board shorts for the boys!
At Shortomatic.com consumers upload their own artwork for a truly customised swim style. All customers need do is indicate their waist size and then upload the graphics they have in mind. They then position and size the art, choose their colours and add text for use on the waistband. Voila!
Those feeling less creative can also browse Shortomatic’s curated gallery of existing designs – currently, there are close to 700 exhibited there
Vanishing Elephant: Spring/Fall 2010
Vanishing Elephant has released images of their Spring and Fall 2010 Collections. The collection for Spring will be entitled Northern Hemisphere while the Fall collection will reflect the Southern Hemisphere. Here are some images from their upcoming range which will include knits, plaid suits, vests, leather, and footwear. Its very hard to tell which pieces belong to each season since the color palette appears to be very ‘fall’. Regardless, there are some handsome, clean and simple pieces being released this year.

Twenty8Twelve Fall 2010
For those of you who don’t know, Sienna Miller and her fashion designer sister, Savannah are behind label Twenty8Twelve. I have some issues with this label, first, you don’t name any kind of company after four numbers and then mix up the spelling with letters and numbers. Secondly, the new Fall 2010 line looks like something I can see on any street corner in the Mission, worn by a lady who paid a fraction of the price for a similar outfit. I understand that Sienna says she doesn’t claim to be a designer and feels she’s been misinterpreted, but when you own a clothing line with someone who has had formal training in fashion design, like her sister…I’m sorry, like it or not, you are a designer.
Back to the Fall 2010 collection, it’s not high-end, and the clothes, while doubtless fun for a certain kind of British girl to wear, don’t display the kind of skill that have won critical acclaim. In this collection, there were some neat pieces, such as the trippy colored giant cardigan, lovely black tops and dresses with fringed shoulders, and a red minidress.
Chauncey: Fall/Winter 2010 Lookbook
Brussels-based menswear label, Chauncey leans towards the modern, simplistic fashion trends by relying upon extreme creativity and precision by using high quality yarns and manufacturers. According to Chancey, the line is meant for the “elegant gentleman traveler” look with a slice of Belgian surrealism (though I would say that the model looks anything but an elegant traveler with his pale skin, obviously bleacher hair and neck tattoo…don’t get me wrong, he’s still beautiful). For Fall/Winter 2010 the collection ranges from simplistic knits, scarves, tops, and trousers. There’s a quiet look to the collection that I’m sure some of the more humble fashionable men will appreciate.
Sass & Bide Fall 2010
Sass & Bide’s Fall 2010 collection debuted at London Fashion Week, and was anything but stale. The collection was as confident and bold, drawing on some of their signature cuts, bustier necklines and sharp-shouldered blazers. The color palette was very fall, consisting mainly of blacks, grays and nudes. Several of the pieces featured an updated version of the tribal-chic trend we saw during Spring 2010 but nothing about this collection feels dated.
