Spring & Summer 2012 color trends
The foundation of any season’s collection are the colors and hues that underlie them, shape them, and eventually come to define them.
Interfiliere Paris is always the first to release their take on any season’s color trends, and for spring and summer 2012 it’s no different.
Interfiliere has also grouped their color trends for spring 2012 into different moods. For the spring / summer 2012 season they’re seeing three distinguishable color groups: tender, earthy, and floral.
Tender: The clearest and palest of pastels, ideal for lofty and silky fabrics and for a new vintage mood that is more sexy than candid.
Earthy: The earth hues: ochres, oranges and copper tones which support the passion for nature and organic environments to use with mat or shiny effects, with top-of-the-range laces, and for beachwear. Note a surge of ‘hand-dyed’ effects, especially indigo.
Florals:Floral tones, essential nuances for charming prints available now for ranges of limited volume.
10 Swim Suits To Avoid In 2012
Mercedes Benz Miami Swim Week wrapped up on July 18th. Looking back at the shows, I noticed there were a handful of swim suits to avoid (at all costs). Below you’ll find the top ten bathing suits to pass on for Summer 2012.
This white crochet bathing suit by Dolores Cortes would get soggy if worn in water, not to mention tan lines would be awful.
Crystals an rouching probably wouldn’t hold up well in chlorinated water. Actually they probably wouldn’t hold up well in the ocean either. Swimsuit by Norma Kamali.
A Diesel swim suit made of blue glass shards from bottle of Skyy Vodka is worn down the runway by The Hills star Kristen Cavallari.
Black leather swim suit by Dolores Cortes. similar to the crochet swim suit by the same designer above, this would leave terrible tan lines. It’s also be really stick and sweaty at the beach.
This satin and lace lingerie-like swim suit is part of the Beach Bunny Swimwear collection. Everything about this suit is ridiculous down to the rhinestone details.
This black and white, 60’s inspired suit from Red Carter looks like a mess of too many details, including the clear accessories.
The suit above by Beach Bunny Swimwear is actually cute, and wearable. The raincoat looking bolero is an awful addition to the look.
Weddings have been on my mind lately, to this wedding inspired bathing suit by Beach Bunny Swimwear really caught my attention. Haha – it’d be perfect for a beach wedding. I’m not sure I’d want to know a girl who would think wearing a suit to her wedding would be a good idea though.
This X Mark tie dyed one piece bathing suit by Dolores Cortes is a bit much.
I don’t even know what to say about the leopard print half skirt by Cia Maritima.
3 Swimwear Trends for Summer 2011
With the weather finally warming up we’re all eager to hit the beach. Whether you’re soaking up the sun in Manhattan Beach or Greece, the most important decision of the swimming season is which swimwear pieces you’ll be wearing.
This year Stylebust.com is taking a look at our favorite 3 ‘in’ styles in swimwear, helping you choose the piece of swimwear that is perfectly inline with 2011’s fashion trends.
Option 1: Vintage Style Swimwear
Vintage inspired swimwear has a huge presence in 2011. The look doesn’t have to consist of the strawberry cheesecake, or mod striped clichés. Nor does a vintage bikini or swimsuit have to be like a pin-up girl costume (thank god). This year many swimwear designers are infusing vintage details into modern pieces. They are incorporating some high-waist bikini bottoms, as well as vintage prints on one piece suits and more modern bikini silhouettes.

Option 2: The Metal Details
There have been metals accents and embellishments on swimwear for many seasons. The look has gone to the extreme this time around. We think this look is sexy and eye-catching. It’s just as appropriate for the school teacher as it is the Harley-Davidson rider. We just caution that people who buy heavily accessorized swimwear don’t overdo it with the jewelry. Since this trend is not entirely new, the metal detail swimsuit will be a safe bet for 2012 and beyond.
Option 3: Crochet Swimwear
Influenced by the return of the Spring 2011 crochet trend, crochet swimsuits and crochet bikinis are not just on-trend this season, they’re the must-have swimwear style for 2011. Our favorite feature of crochet swimwear is that it borders neatly on day wear. Pair a crochet one piece with denim cut-offs for a perfect festival fashion look; or with wide-leg pants or a midi-skirt for those resort afternoons.
