Invading spaces: Peek inside Fabulous Tuesdays stylish sanctuary
A couple weekends ago, I had the chance to visit Erica, the stylish gal behind the blog Fabulous Tuesdays. From the clean and polished look of her blog, to the amazing photos, and her insane wardrobe – it’s hard to believe that this Bay Area blogger just recently joined the blogging community!
As we arrived at her home, which she shares with her boyfriend Patrick, we were greeted by two friendly members of their family – Rover and Stewie – the couples outgoing and extremely photogenic dogs.
Erica’s home was the perfect backdrop for a picture perfect day – complete with a backyard pool, some fun antiques, and most importantly the spare bedroom that has been transformed into Erica’s closet!
StyleBust: When/how did you decide to start your blog? What’s behind the name?
Fabulous Tuesdays: I started my blog earlier this year in March. My biggest motivation was to explore my own personal style and for me and my boyfriend, Patrick, to learn more about photography.
There wasn’t a specific reason as to why I chose the name “Fabulous Tuesdays” for my blog. I think at the time, I just thought the combination had a nice ring to it, so I decided to use it. In retrospect, I wish I had a more interesting story behind the name of my blog!
SB: Describe your personal style.
FT: I think I am still exploring my personal style, and I find that mine keeps evolving. But no matter what, comfort always plays a huge part in how I dress. Everything I wear must be comfortable and I must feel comfortable in it. If I must describe my personal style at this point in time, I will say that it’s uncomplicated, practical, comfortable, and feminine.
SB: Who are some of your style icons?
FT: I am inspired by many women and how they are dressed! Particularly by the ones that really “own” what they wear, and get a strong vibe that they are comfortable in their own skin. The ones that really stand out to me are Audrey Hepburn, Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen, Nicole Ritchie, and Miranda Kerr.
SB: You have an amazing shoe and handbag collection, where do you shop mostly? Any Bay Area boutiques that you visit?
FT: Thank you! I shop in many places, but these days, due to time constraint, I tend to shop online a lot. For stores in San Francisco, my go-to places are H&M, Zara, Nordstrom, Theory, Madewell, and Neiman Marcus. For online sites, I frequently visit ShopBop, TopShop, Gilt, Hautelook, and Net-a-Porter.
SB: What does your “go to” outfit look like?
FT: Any simple white shirt, my JBrand boyfriend jeans, a blazer, my favorite Zara’s two tone pumps, a structured bag, Michael Kors Rosegold watch, a scarf and a pair of sunglasses.
SB: What are some of your favorite trends of the moment?
FT: I am loving everything with bright colors and bold prints at the moment. In fact, I just recently got two more beautiful print blouses from Zara (guilty pleasure!). I am also fully on board with the cap toe shoes, I wish I can have them all! Another thing I really like is the metallic trend, though in small doses. For example, a trace of the metallic color on my shoes, or as my nail polish color.
SB: What are some of you favorite blogs?
FT: Fashiontoast, Wendy’s Lookbook, 9to5chic, Cupcakes and Cashmere, Rockstar Diaries (I love the bulldog Kingsley!), Atlantic-Pacific, From Head to Toe, Swankheights, The Glamurai, Neon Blush, Sincerely, Jules, The Chriselle Factor…. Just to name a few! What can I say, these ladies are all so inspiring!
SB: Any advice you could give someone who wants to start their own personal style blog?
FT: Have lots of fun with it! I am still new to this whole blogging world, but I see my blog as my own creative outlet, a space to grow and define my own personal style, and a place for me to learn more about photography. But I also know that I wouldn’t be able to keep my blog going if I didn’t have a lot of fun doing it. Another thing I would recommend is to try to post regularly. I have a full time job, so blogging regularly can be challenging at times. However, I find posting regularly not only keep my momentum going, but it also keep my audiences/readers engaged.
If you’re looking for a little wardrobe inspiration or just want to see someone with impeccable style – Fabulous Tuesdays is definitely a blog to bookmark!
Special thanks to Erica and Patrick for letting StyleBust take a peek inside their gorgeous home. Fortunately for Erica, her feet are much smaller than mine – I could’ve spent all afternoon trying on her shoes!
And also, thanks again to Yekaterina Bowyer of YBowyer Photography for taking these amazing photos!

Fierce Flats
This season there’s a huge amount of fierce flats to choose from, so step away from those skyscraper heels and take a look at the chic and comfy women’s shoes for summer…
Flatforms
This season’s opinion divider, you’ll either love them or hate them. Flatforms are an antidote to all the impractical sky high platforms on offer at the moment, and are the perfect shoes to go for if you’re looking for some extra height. The heel is barely higher than the platform sole, meaning you get the comfort of a flat but with a more feminine feel. There are so many styles to choose from including everything from floral printed espadrilles to patent Mary Jane’s. Keep it girly and wear these with bodycon miniskirts or high-waisted shorts.
Loafers
For those looking for something a bit different to the classic ballerina pumps, loafers are an androgynous alternative. Taking over from the recent trend for brogues, loafers are a great day shoe that can be dressed up or down. For a day at the office pair them with cigarette pants, chinos or a pencil skirt. On your days off slip them on with a pair of indigo or black jeans and a simple white tee. They’re women’s shoes you can experiment with by trying vibrant eye-popping color, leopard print and color-block.
High Tops
A great style for those casual, dress down days, high top sneakers are inspired by the sport-luxe trend. This season designers’ have put a feminine twist on sporty clothing, including everything from dresses to parkas and women’s shoes are no different. Opt for high top sneakers in feminine shades of grey or pastel tones. Wear your high tops with skinny jeans and an over-sized tee for effortless cool. Then pair them with cut off denim shorts in the summer months, for a laid-back, thrown-together vibe.
So these are the top three styles to look out for this season, what ones would you choose?
Accessories with a Little Sun
Spread a little bit more sunshine this summer with brightly colored accessories that are anything but mellow.

CBS Pilots: New CBS Shows For Fall 2012
It’s no surprise that CBS didn’t renew a couple of shows for another season. Lucky for people like me, who are looking for some new programming — the network is lining up it’s new series. Checkout the brand new shows you’ll be seeing on CBS this Fall.
New Comedies
- Friend Me: This comedy stars Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Nicholas Braun as best friends who move to LA to work at Groupon and struggle to be social when one would rather stay at home. Mintz-Plasse is good in everything he does, from Superbad to Kick-Ass, and Role Models to How to Trian Your Dragon. I’m excited to tune into Friend Me just to see what he can bring to a TV Series.
- Partners: Michael Urie and David Krumholtz play a pair of architects whose friendship has outlasted all their romantic relationships. Sophia Bush an
d Brandon Routh also appear.
New Drama
- Elementary: This take on Sherlock Holmes is set in present-day Brooklyn and stars Jonny Lee Miller in the Sherlock role, with the added twist of Lucy Liuas his colleague Watson.
- Vegas: Dennis Quaid and Michael Chiklis star in this 1960s-era drama about a rodeo cowboy (Quaid) who becomes the sheriff of the city.
- Made in Jersey: A street-smart woman (Janet Montgomery) tries to prove herself to her colleagues at a New York law firm in this drama, which also costars Kyle MacLachlan.
- Golden Boy: This cop drama follows the rise of a man (Theo James) as he climbs the ranks from office to detective to police commissioner.
CBS Cancellations
- CSI Miami: I’m going to miss Horatio Caine. For those of you who aren’t caught up on the series (which is perfect for watching on long flights), you can pick up season DVDs at the CBS Store.

- How To Be A Gentleman
- NYC 22

Make Up For Ever Waterproof Line
Summer is almost upon us, which means outdoor activities, fun in the sun and smudged makeup due to perspiration. To combat that type of disasters, Make Up For Ever has a line of waterproof cosmetics.
The product I tried was Aqua Eyes:
This best-selling eyeliner has become a favorite among all women who fear the dreaded raccoon eyes. Formulated to glide on effortlessly and withstand the most extreme conditions, it stays put on eyelids without melting for precise application and intense color throughout the day.
The first time I used it was in the afternoon, sunny and 80 degrees outside. I applied nice thick lines on my upper and lower lids, sprayed on sunscreen, put on a breezy cowboy-type hat and out I went to do minor errands. I walked around my neighborhood for 45 minutes or so, by the time I got back home I was sweating, not dainty lady-like perspiration, I was sweating! Checked my eyes and was pleasantly surprised that my eyeliner was not all over the place. I love it!
Since then I’ve used it at night smudging it a little to create a smoky eyes look and have even used it as inner-lid eyeliner. It’s very easy to take off at the end of the day and it didn’t feel heavy on my eyelids. Aqua Eyes comes in 25 different colors and from my personal experience I can totally recommend it.
Aqua Cream is a colorful addition to our award-winning Aqua range. These versatile, long-lasting, waterproof colors can be worn on the eyes, lips, and cheeks. They’re completely smudge-proof, tear-proof, and waterproof, and they won’t crease, run, or transfer. Aqua Cream gives intense payoff with a highly pigmented formula that ensures the colorful, pearly hues show up on skin while the soft, silky texture glides on effortlessly.
Designed for the water ballet, this foundation works great on the legs and arms to give a nice tan effect.
Designed to cover major imperfections like scars, hyper-pigmentation, major discoloration, burns, and tattoos. This light and creamy concealer contains a high concentration of pigments that stay put, making it perfect for use on the face, as well as the body.
Aqua Lip Waterproof Lipliner Pencil
Glides on with vitamin E and jojoba wax that makes the application easier and more comfortable on the lips.
Easy to apply, Aqua Cream Liner gives an intense, precise finish. The unique formula provides intense color and long-lasting water resistance thanks to silicone powder and emollients. Though designed to be budge-proof, this moisturizing liner protects skin and employs Derma Sensitive to prevent irritation.
Ikea Photoshoot by Carl Kleiners
I first wrote about Carl Kleiner’s last year when he released the best food styled cookbook. He just did a new shoot for IKEA. This shoot reworks the Ikea’s new kitchen range into intricate patterns. Pretty cool!
Wardrobe inspiration from the streets
I’m a little stuck in a wardrobe rut. I have my basic v-neck shirts, cardigans, skinny denim, and ankle boots on constant rotation. Considering that I have a ton of clothes in my closet that are overlooked everyday – going out and buying a whole new wardrobe is completely out of the question (as exciting as it may seem).
Instead, I have looked to some of my favorite personal style bloggers and street style blogs for some wardrobe inspiration – hoping that I can create some fresh looking outfits, using what’s already in my closet.
Here are some inspiring looks that are easy to recreate using pieces I already own:
This is such an easy summer look – I love the mix of girly paired with a tough biker jacket – looks laidback, but still on trend.
This is a great way to ease into the monochromatic look of the season – basic and simple, but looks polished.
A pop of color is nice (especially during the summer months). This look is dressy but also playful – a perfect outfit for a Birthday celebration.
I love this entire look. Nothing too complicated – just a good coat, skinny denim and a sweet pair of ankle boots – classic, and very cool.
I am a stripe junkie – I love the mix of the animal print with bold stripes – this is a perfect look for a fun weekend.
