Hembakat är Bäst from IKEA and Carl Kleiner

IKEA has released a cookbook titled “Hembakat är Bäst” (translation: Homemade is Best). IKEA collaborated with photographer Carl Kleiner to produce this book, which hands down, has some of the best styling and photography for a cookbook. Hembakat är Bäst is filled with 30 recipes for baked goodies broken down by ingredient.

It’s pretty difficult for me to guess what baked good the ingredients photographed below belong to – but I find the images artists, so I thought I’d share them with you here!

There are some images of items you’ll recognize in the cookbook too. Now that I think about it, this cookbook could make a really great gift idea!

White Castle Celebrates National Hamburger Month With Slider Scented Candle

Yes, this is true.

To commemorate its 18th annual celebration of National Hamburger Month, White Castle has teamed up with Laura Slatkin, founder of Nest Fragrances, often called the “queen” of home fragrances, to introduce a candle with the steam-grilled-on-a-bed-of-onions scent of America’s first fast-food hamburger. Packaged in a ceramic holder that reproduces the signature cardboard sleeve of the White Castle hamburger packaging, the candles are available in White Castle restaurants and at White Castle’s online store at www.houseofcrave.com. Candles sell for $10 each, with net proceeds benefiting Autism Speaks.

Pastry chef Caitlin Williams for Blue Bottle Cafe Bar

Caitlin Williams has been creating art-inspired sweets for the Blue Bottle Coffee Bar at SFMOMAS new rooftop sculpture bar. Above: the showstopping butter cake, lined with thick chocolate ganache. It’s a very impressive mod, intricate look.

The honey-pistachio frozen parfait is covered in bee-emblazoned white-chocolate-cardamom sheets and is on view at sfmoma until November 29.

The poodle-shaped ice cream sandwich is made by squeezing vanilla bean ice cream between two pieces of rich chocolate shortbread.
