The official launch of the Indonesia brand CottonInk webstore took place yesterday May 18th. The new site offers a convenient shopping experience with the items divided per category featuring a shopping bag to place your item(s) to be purchased. Moreover, the webstore includes a blog story section that features a compilation of interesting stories and images that you can submit about the brand.

For the few that are unfamiliar with the brand Cotton Ink, Cotton Ink was founded on November 2008 by Carline Darjanto and Ria Sarwono. This duo fashion designer and graphic designer team created a brand, which as the name implies is made of cotton, which I believe, is the perfect material that suits this tropical weather.

H&M Swimwear 2010 Ad Campaign

H&M’s swimwear 2010 ad campaign features supermodels Daria Werbowy, Julia Stegner, Erin Wasson, Sasha Pivovarova and Lara Stone (they all look fabulous here). The new swimwear collection will be launching this month, shot by photographer Patrick Demarchelier at St. Barts in the Caribbean. The swimwear collection mixes safari with ethnic detailing and prints. I totally dig the mismatch trend thats carrying over from last season.

In video’s that launched with the ad campaign, all five models talked about their best beach memories (smart marketing move by H&M). Check out the videos on hm.com.

RowNine enters Flash Sales space

There are many flash sales sites on the web, Gilt Groupe, Rue La La, HauteLook and Ideeli. These site offer their members 50%-70% off retail goods. Newbie RowNine is hoping to differentiate itself by offering a more personalized platform that allows users to customize the types of clothing, handbags and accessories that are delivered to them.

On RowNine, users will now be prompted to specify what types of clothing, brands, bags, and more items they are interested in purchasing. Customers can indicate their preferences when perusing offers and merchandise on the RowNine Website by giving a “thumbs up or down” to build their preference profile.
RowNine will then source and recommend customized products to the users. RowNine’s recommendation engine will integrate a shopper’s clickstream and purchase history as well as group matching with customers with similar interests to deliver targeted recommendations. Customers will also have the ability to publish products and purchases they like via their Facebook and Twitter accounts.

While the space is competitive, the model is certainly ambitious and could prove to be attractive to shoppers who want more customized offerings from online sample sales. One of the biggest challenges for RowNine will be to attract users; the site only has a hundred thousand members as compared to the millions competitors have. But the online sample sale space is still growing, and clearly there’s room for a number of strong players.

Gap & Cotton Inc. on Denim Recycling

Cotton Incorporated COTTON. FROM BLUE TO GREEN

Cotton Incorporated has partnered up with Gap this year for their denim recycling initiative, COTTON. FROM BLUE TO GREEN. The initiative launched in 2006 to encourage consumers to donate their used jeans so that they can be converted into UltraTouchTM Natural Cotton Fiber Insulation. The insulation is then donated to families in need. Since its launch, the initiative has recycled enough denim for over 540 homes with many families from the Gulf Coast benefiting from this program.

Through March 14th, Gap will launch COTTON. FROM BLUE TO GREEN as part of their Recycle Your Blues event. In more than 1000 Gap locations across North America and Puerto Rico, consumers will be able to donate their old denim. As an incentive, they will receive 30% off new denim purchases from Gap, GapKids, or BabyGap.

“We hope the drive will help foster awareness about cotton’s recyclability among our consumers, while enabling them to give back to communities in need,” said Marka Hansen, President, Gap North America.

I’m really enjoying Wrangler’s new “Are We Animals” campaign. The campaign was organized by the Fred Agency & Farid Paris. A work of the photographer Jeff Burton on a score of stereotypes “We Are Animals”.
