NARS Spring 2011 Collection
Even though I love the spring/summer weather and fashion, my favorite colors come with the autumn/winter collections. But looking at some of the upcoming Spring Collections, I’m starting to reconsider. NARS Cosmetics Spring collection is full of awesome colors, in his own words:
Spring 2011 is the epitome of minimalism, reaching a sensual peak with fresh, forward color. Jeweled earth tones are infused with a metallic finish that lends a subtly sleek finish. Cool compliments of sheer and sparkling lips pair with unexpected accents of parrot green and vivid blue.
And here is what part of the collection looks like, not sure if I can pull off Parrot Green on my eyelids, but I’m definitely going for the Golden Desperado Nail Polish and the Deep Purple Nana Lip Gloss.
The White Stripes Announce Break Up
Have you ever felt like your just in an inspirational rut? I have sat here the past couple days thinking, there is nothing in the music industry going on right now that’s worth writing about. Reading on Twitter five minutes ago that the White Stripes are done touring and making new music was just the thing to rock my world. I am not ok with this. I sort of feel like I just lost my best friend! But the magical thing about music is that it lives on forever. The band says there are “myriad of reasons” for the breakup, but the main reason is to “preserve what is beautiful and special about the band.”
The White Stripes are made up of Jack White and his ex wife Meg White. The White Stripes are certainly not a household name like Oasis or Radiohead, but they should be. Meg has never taken a drum lesson and her minimalistic style has drawn some criticism. For me, its hard to take my eyes off the duo. Both are incredible musicians. Each of their last three albums won Grammy’s for Best Alternative Music Album. The bands most successful single is “Seven Nation Army” and that won a Grammy in 2004 for “Best Rock Song.”
To try to put into words the artistry behind this talented duo would completely understate everything that I actually feel about their music. So with that being said I have included a video of their 2004 Grammy performance I think the video speaks for itself and shows everything that is “beautiful and special about the band.”

Spring is in the hair
I’m in the process of growing my hair out, I’ve been working on it for about 4 years now (I have a tendency to get extremely bored with my hair and chop it off). But since my sister is getting married, I’ve decided to grow it out for her wedding and to see what I actually look like with long-ish hair!
I’ve found a few hair trends for this Spring that I’ll definitely be trying while growing my hair out (anything to keep me from cutting my hair like Arizona Muse…I absolutely love her hair)!
Blunt Bangs
This season we’ll be seeing 70’s inspired clothing, so it only seems right to see some 70’s inspired hair. Since I already have bangs, this look will be easy to pull off (I just wish my hair was thicker, any thickening products you know of?). Lou Doillon and Florence Welch are just a couple “bang” ladies that I’ll be stealing looks from.
The Swoop
I love this swoop bang look. Especially in the first photo (Rodarte Spring 2011). This is a great option if you’re trying to grow your bangs out…just swoop them over and secure with a bobby pin. Just be careful of “over swooping!” You don’t want this to look like a comb-over!
Extreme Side Part
The side part is very versatile. It works on long, short, straight or curly hair. This is another great hair option when you’re growing your bangs out (especially if you’re hair is a little wavy).
The Low Bun
Last season we saw a lot of top knot hair styles, but this season we’ll be seeing a much more elegant, yet relaxed look. And again, this look is pretty versatile (hair can be both curly or straight and can be worn slicked back or a little loose for a bohemian flair). Learn how to do any easy knotted bun here.

Ana Locking Shoes Spring/Summer 2011
Eye candy for Spring and Summer 2011.
Ana Locking stilettos with sky-high heels are all about high fashion. Made of colorful python and leather they offer special attraction and lots of energy.
Note: you need to know how to walk on needles before getting into these shoes. Don’t even think about going out drinking in these shoes (unless you enjoy falling down).
Living Room Decor Refresh In Time For Spring
I’ve worked in Home Decor for a couple of years. When I started I thought four seasons of home furnishings per year was ridiculous. Why would anyone need to refresh their home seasonally? This isn’t clothing worn out in public we’re talking about, it’s the look of our home – and unless we entertain on a regular basis who really cares if our living room textiles are so Fall 2006?
I’ve learned that people do refresh their home decor on a fairly regular basis.
Add some freshness to your apartment by following some on the best Home Decor looks for Spring 2011.

My eye is automatically drawn to the intense color of the suede sofa and pillows. The designer paired the smaller sized sofa with larger, neutral color side chairs; a safe and smart move. The best part of this room is the artwork. I like how the art doesn’t seem to go together very well, yet looks fantastic. This to me is a bold move that we don’t see people take too often.
This room itself is fantastic. The color of the walls blends very nicely into the light wood floors. There are so many patterns going on in this room without the furniture. This basic, gray designer sofa is a great piece for the room. Additionally the fact that the colors are extremely limited help focus attention on the important elements (the walls and the floor).
The furniture and decor in this room work well for the small living space. The coffee table and accent pieces are not to dark, heavy which helps them appear smaller than they actually are. To add some life to the space the designer pulled in some great prints that compliment each other well without created a clutter feel.
This spacious living room gets it’s personality from prints. The walls have a tan and white motif wallpaper (wallpaper has sure made a comeback). The contrasting print side chair is filled with personality. These pieces, along with the toss pillows bring life to an otherwise sparse and stale living environment.
Which look suites you best? I prefer the blue sofa and mismatched wall art look.
Retailer we love
I don’t do much shopping online (I like to touch things, try things on and I really like the shopping experience), but ASOS is one reason for me to start shopping online.
ASOS is a London based online-only fashion and beauty retailer, founded in 2000, but fairly new to us here in the U.S.
If you haven’t checked out ASOS, you’ve gotta do it now! Not only will you find all of the latest trends, you can also shop for your favorite guy, find maternity clothes for your stylish pregnant friend, and everything is reasonably priced (similar price point to Urban Outfitters). Oh, and FREE shipping!
